This is the fabric for hand-sewing a tied-sleeve haori coat.
We’ve put together a kit containing all the materials needed to make a tied-sleeve haori for customers who already own a full set of home sewing supplies. You can make haoris in a wide range of sizes, up to our store’s size 3 (suitable for heights up to 185cm, waist 75–85cm, total length 105cm).
This fabric is 100% premium domestic linen woven in Shiga Prefecture. The more you use it, the softer it becomes and the more beautiful its texture develops. It’s undyed natural off-white, so it pairs effortlessly with any outfit and takes the stress out of coordinating your look.
The included thread is cotton, so you can later dye it with plant-based dyes or indigo. You can first enjoy the haori in its natural off-white state, then dye it to enjoy a brand new color later on.
tied-sleeve haori sewing tutorial is not included with this kit, so please purchase it separately..

■ Production Story
Ishidetsu Shiro Yohinten first published instructions for making our own branded trousers, and this time we tried creating a craft kit. We did this because, just like many others, we learned how to make clothes freely from members of our local community.
Once upon a time, it was commonplace for everyone to make their own clothes, with every member of the family wearing what they’d made. We’ve always crafted our own lives by making things ourselves, just like our ancestors did.
We can’t live exactly like our ancestors did, but we want to share the joy of handcrafting and the pride of wearing something you made yourself with as many people as possible. That’s why we regularly host workshops and similar events.
