We have created a booklet explaining how to make the "hakama" pants we produce in our shop.
Please note that this site sells digital data for download, not a physical booklet. If you wish to purchase a physical booklet, please visit this site.
We have clearly summarized how to make "hakama" wide-leg pants using only straight cuts. In the past, they were worn over kimonos as rain gear, so they are generously sized trousers.
We created this booklet because we want many people to make the "hakama" that have been passed down in the Itoshiro village, deep in the mountains of Gifu Prefecture.
Contents include:
・About Itoshiro
・Introduction to the Hakama instructor
・Measuring methods
・Cutting methods
・Sewing methods
・Advanced techniques
・How to determine child hakama dimensions

◾️Regarding hashtags when making clothes based on the instructions
We received a request from a customer saying, "I'd like you to create a hashtag so others can see what they've made." When uploading photos of your creations to social media, please include the following hashtag with your photos:
#itoshirohakama
For garments other than karusan, please also include:
#itoshirotatsuke
#itoshirokarusan
#itoshiroechizenshirt
#itoshiro sleeveless
By doing so, when you search by hashtag, you can see what others have made themselves.
■Production Story
Many people are surprised that we, as Itoshiro Youhinten, are meticulously publishing how to make the garments we primarily produce and sell. We decided to publish the making instructions because we want more people to know about the wonderfulness of "tatsuke."
Originally, we ourselves were generously taught by the grandmothers of the region. We want to pass this on to many people and share the surprise and joy of creating, or the pleasure of wearing clothes you made yourself.
We also periodically hold workshops based on this booklet, so we hope to share the joy of working with our hands together.
・Unauthorized reproduction, reprinting, or secondary use of this book, including copying, scanning, or digitizing, is prohibited under copyright law.
・Please refrain from commercial use of the works introduced in this book.
