I want to share with many people the wisdom of straight-line cutting of clothes, including "tatsuke," the culmination of Japanese dressmaking.
We want to preserve the spirit of our ancestors, who lived with gratitude for the blessings of nature, for our future.

What we learned from the grandmothers of Itoshiro was not just how to make clothes. We learned about the land where the clothes were made, about their lives, and the various "emotions" they had experienced along the way, such as "happy times," "fun times," "painful times," and "sad times."

Although the days spent wearing the tatsuke garments were tough for them to make a living, they were also filled with a sense of fulfillment from working and moving their bodies within their family and community.

We hold workshops in Itoshiro and other areas to spread the word about the wonderful way tatsuke is made.

We have created a diverse program that will not only teach you how to make the pots, but also give you information about this land, the historical background and life when the pots were used, and more, in the hope that you will find some hints for how we should live our lives in the future.

We also certify our colleagues who convey this "Tatsuke" and the "background of Tatsuke" as "Tatsuke instructors" and have them work all over the country.

What's great is that the circle of "TATSUKE" is expanding little by little.

I would like to expand this circle not only within Japan but also to the world, and pass on the wonderful wisdom that the Japanese people have cultivated.

I believe that this is what we, who live in Itoshiro, a community that has existed since the Jomon period, can do for the future.
