Digital version [Itoshiro Folk Clothing Series] How to make a sleeveless kimono

¥2,200

We have created a booklet explaining how to sew the new "sleeveless" style that will be released in our store this autumn.

Please note that this site sells digital downloads, not paper books. If you would like to purchase a paper booklet, please see this site.

This is the fourth book in the series, following the previous books on "Tatsuke", "Hakama" and "Echizen Shirt". This is also a sleeveless vest-type garment that can be made using only straight cuts. It has been arranged in a modern style, so the back neckline is slightly curved.

Of all the Civil Clothing series to date, this one has the fewest parts and is the simplest to make, making it the least difficult, but the cutting is key and it is quite surprising.

This design can be used for both formal and casual occasions, such as wearing it as stylish clothing in spring and summer with thin fabrics, or to keep your back warm in autumn and winter with warm fabrics, so try it out with a variety of fabrics.

*advice

・Suitable fabric: Since the shoulder width is adjusted by tucks, soft fabric that conforms to the body will be easier to wear than stiff fabric. (The required length is stated in the instructions.)
・Hand sewing or machine sewing: Either is possible. Even if you don't have a serger, you can sew everything by hand.
-Depending on the arrangement, it can also be made into a long version.

*In some regions, they were stuffed with cotton and used as cold weather clothing (this was also the case in Itoshiro), but please note that the method used this time is based on a sleeveless kimono that was used as fashionable clothing, not for cold weather.

The design is based on an old kasuri sleeveless kimono

■Production StoryMany people are surprised to learn that we are revealing in detail how the clothes we make are made, which is the main production and sale of the Itoshiro Clothing Store. We decided to reveal how we make the clothes because we want more people to know about the beauty of the traditional clothing handed down in Itoshiro.

We were also generously taught by local grandmothers. We would like to share this knowledge with many people, and share the surprise and joy of making clothes, and the pleasure of wearing clothes that you made yourself.
