Let's Make Pajamas From Rescue Silk
Hakama and Echizen Shirt Kit
+ Workshop (9/7)
* New fabric bolts added on 8/21.
The white silk fabric meant for kimonos has been sitting unused, as demand for kimonos has dropped.

These are high-quality, incredibly comfortable silk fabrics. It's such a waste to let them sit unused like this!
We launched a project to "rescue" these fabrics and turn them into ultra-soft, luxurious pajamas.
This pajama set features an Echizen Shirt as the top and a Hakama as the bottom.

Even if you make two pairs of pajamas, there will be plenty of fabric left over, so you can also turn an Echizen shirt into a one-piece dress or lengthen the hem of hakama pants.
(Photo: The Echizen shirt was made in size 3, the hakama pants have a 94cm inseam. Worn by someone 155cm tall.)
This is a fabric + workshop bundle set (attendance at the workshop is optional). Feel free to ask questions about your measurements or if you're nervous about the sewing process.
Workshop Details
Monday, September 7, 10:00-12:00
* We will send the Google Meet link to anyone who signs up to attend.
About Our Rescue Silk Fabrics
Below are the types of silk fabrics available. Since these are rescued fabrics, some may have minor stains. Please understand this before purchasing (we do not accept returns for stains or dirt).
Hama Chirimen:
We're introducing Hama Chirimen, made in Nagahama, Shiga, for the first time this time. It's extremely high-quality, and has long been regarded as top-tier fabric in the kimono industry.

I visited the master weavers and heard so many stories. This region truly exists because of Hama Chirimen, and their dedication to making delicate, high-quality fabric... it was incredibly profound. We were specially given cut fabric remnants this time.
Compared to regular chirimen fabric, it's delicate and beautiful, with a smooth, silky feel against your skin. You'll definitely get a great night's sleep wearing it.
A. 4-piece cut fabric (4m × 4 pieces)
B. 2-piece cut fabric (8m × 1 piece, 4m × 1 piece)
* It's more affordable than Option A, since the total length is shorter.
Tango Chirimen: 3-piece cut fabric (approx. 4m cuts × 3 pieces)
These are rescued fabric bolts we obtained from a wholesale supplier in Kyoto. They're premium crinkled silk fabrics, but had been sitting unused because they were cut to size. Please confirm the cut dimensions before proceeding with your sewing.

This is standard Tango Chirimen, the same fabric used for top-tier kimonos. The crinkled texture gently wraps around your skin.
Tango Chirimen Diamond Weave Pattern (12.85m)

It has a diamond weave pattern for an elegant look. There are some minor fabric edge discolorations, so please avoid using those sections.

Use these fabrics to sew one custom-adjusted Echizen Shirt and one custom-adjusted Hakama, modified for use as pajamas. The set includes an instruction guide that walks you through all these custom changes.
Since these are rescued fabrics, some may have slight sun discoloration or stains in certain areas. That's why we're able to offer them at a very affordable price. Please keep this in mind when purchasing.
Other Fabric Bolts
1. Patterned / Undyed Natural White (35.5cm width ×12m; 1 full bolt)
This is a beautiful, glossy patterned fabric bolt. It hasn't been cut, so it's easy to work with.

2. For Kimono Undergarments - Wave Pattern / Salmon Pink (37cm width ×11m;1 full bolt)
This is 100% silk fabric made for kimono undergarments.

It's lightweight, so it has a slight sheerness, but the pink wave pattern makes it unobtrusive for loungewear. It's perfect for anyone who wants to make colored pajamas.

3. Chirimen Tsumugi / Undyed Natural White (36cm width ×11.8m)
Tsumugi fabric has a substantial thickness and is warm, making it perfect for pajamas from fall through winter and early spring.

This is high-quality silk kimono fabric. Please note that it has some minor stains in spots. The soft, comforting wrapped feel is unique to tsumugi fabric.

【Pre-Sewing Preparation】
Pre-wash the fabric before sewing. Submerge it in water, lightly spin out the excess water, then hang to dry. Press with a low-heat iron using a pressing cloth.
* If you want to machine wash this fabric regularly, put it in a laundry bag and use a gentle cycle. Smooth out wrinkles with an iron after washing. It will shrink, but pre-shrinking before sewing will prevent shrinkage issues later on. For crinkled fabrics, be careful not to press out all of the texture with your iron.
* We will base your sewing on the Echizen Shirt and Hakama Pants pattern guides. These instruction books are sold separately, so please purchase them via the option buttons if you don't already have a copy.
* You can sew this project either by hand or with a sewing machine. Use whichever method you prefer.
* This fabric is soft, so it may be challenging for beginner sewers.
*"Echizen Shirt Sewing Guide" (3rd Edition)and"Hakama Pants Sewing Guide" (3rd Edition)we will use the Silk Pajama Sewing Instruction Manual to guide your cutting and sewing, based on the pattern guides above. [Instructor: Hiromi Goto]
