This is undyed linen fabric for hand-sewing your own Echizen shirts. It measures 150cm wide and 1.5m long, so you can make sizes 1 through 3.

* This is the same 100% linen fabric used for our in-store Echizen shirts, a lightweight material that's easy to hand-sew and recommended for beginners.

■ About Washing
Wash by hand or place in a laundry bag and wash with gentle running water before sewing.
Please note that shrinkage may occur depending on the washing machine and washing method.

■ Production Story
Ishidarezaki Yohinten has shared how to make our own pants. This time, we planned this fabric specifically for handcrafting. The reason for this is that we, too, were generously taught how to make an Echizen shirt by local community members.
Back in the day, it was commonplace for everyone to make their own garments, and every family member wore the clothes they made themselves. People naturally built their own daily lives with their own hands.
We can't live exactly like our ancestors did, but we want to share the joy of making things by hand and the satisfaction of wearing something you made yourself with as many people as possible, which is why we regularly host workshops and similar events.

* It is possible to make everything by hand, but finishing the raw edges with a blind hem stitch requires skill and time.A serger or zigzag sewing machine is convenient for finishing the raw edges of the fabric

* The Echizen shirt is more difficult and requires more patience than a Tatsuke shirt or hakama. This is a hand-sewing kit, but you may also use a sewing machine if you prefer. Enjoy making your clothes at your own pace, and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

* The detailed photos show loquat-dyed (pink) and indigo-dyed shirts. If they get dirty, we recommend overdyeing them so you can wear them for a long time!
