*The 3rd edition has been available since June 7, 2025. The cover photo has changed.
We have created a booklet explaining how to make the "Echizen Shirt" that we produce in our store.
Please note that this site sells digital data for download, not a physical booklet. If you wish to purchase a physical booklet, please visit this site.
Similar to the "Tatsuke" and "Hakama" patterns we've made before, this shirt, which can be made entirely by straight cutting, feels like a "miracle." However, it has been slightly modernized, so the neckline and collar are made with some curves.
Among our folk clothing series, this is the most challenging and requires patience, but we sincerely hope that many people will try making the "Echizen Shirt," which has been passed down in Itoshiro village, deep in the mountains of Gifu Prefecture.

■About hashtags when making clothes based on the instructions
We received a request from a customer saying, "I'd like you to create a hashtag so others can see what people have made." When you upload photos of what you've made to social media, please tag them with:
#itoshiroechizenshirt
And for clothes other than the Echizen shirt, please include:
#itoshirotatsuke
#itoshirohakama
#itoshirokarsan
#itoshirosleeveless
By doing so, when you search by hashtag, you can see what others have made.
■Production Story
Many people are surprised that we meticulously publish the patterns for the clothes we primarily produce and sell as Itoshiro Yōhinten. We decided to release the patterns because we want more people to know about the wonderful traditional clothing passed down in Itoshiro.
Originally, the local grandmothers generously taught us. We want to pass this on to many people and share the surprise and joy of making something, as well as the pleasure of wearing clothes you've made yourself.

■Other Itoshiro Folk Clothing Series
Part 1: How to make Tatsuke Paper booklet / Digital version
Slim pants. With a large triangular gusset at the back, they offer the most freedom of movement.
Part 2: How to make Hakama Paper booklet / Digital version
Loose wide-leg pants. With a square gusset in the crotch, they are easy to move in. The style changes considerably depending on whether you add cuffs to the hem.
Part 3: How to make the Echizen Shirt Paper booklet / Digital version (this page)
Part 4: How to make the Sleeveless Vest Paper booklet / Digital version
A mysterious vest made by cutting fabric alternately. We also recommend making it long like a coat to wear as an outer layer.
