"Tatsuke" are trousers that have been worn in the Itoshiro area. They were worn while working, so they are loose around the hips for ease of movement, and slim towards the hem for easy movement of the legs.

Blue created by applying chestnut grey to indigo dye

The color is created by layering the gray of chestnut burrs on a medium navy blue indigo-dyed base. It has a more astringent tone than the so-called Japan Blue, resulting in a color with an indescribable flavor.

This is a unique color that I would recommend to those who love indigo dyeing but prefer a more subdued color.

The more you use it, the more comfortable it becomes.

The medium-thick fabric can be used in a wide range of seasons. The fabric is sturdy, but the more you use it, the softer it becomes. It can be used for both casual and outings.

■ Production Story

This fabric has been a staple item since the very early days of the Itoshiro Clothing Store. The fabric everyone in the area has been making is a dark blue indigo-dyed cotton fabric. We strive to create something that is as close to the original as possible while still being easy to use in the modern era.

The original tatsuke had slits in the sides and a string sewn to the front and back to secure the waist. We improved it and added elastic and string to the waist. We are constantly trying new things in order to create a better modern tatsuke.
