Tunic with twisted sleeves
This tunic is designed based on a traditional upper garment called "sakkuri" that is found in this area.
It is soft and can be worn by any body type. The large armholes, called "mojiri sleeves," allow for good ventilation.
Light and refreshing linen material
It has a soft, relaxed design and is made from 100% linen fabric.
This is a versatile linen fabric that is firm yet soft.
A gentle pink like the color of cherry blossoms
The pale colors of the plant dyes are beautiful and represent the richness of Japanese nature. This item is dyed with boiled cherry blossoms.
I only dye it with cherry blossom branches in years when the snow is so deep that the branches break off. It's a soft pink that evokes spring and is easy to match with anything.

■ Production Story
I made this based on the clothes I borrowed from Risako, who is now in her 90s. The distinctive feature is the sleeves, which are made by folding and sewing together rectangles called "mojiri sleeves."
I still remember the shock I felt when I first saw this sleeve in person. I realized that the triangular sleeve was made from just one piece of fabric, and that it had the same structure as the sleeves of Ainu clothing.
Itoshiro is a settlement that has existed since the Jomon period, so there may be some connection. I created this design while being drawn to the romance of its long history.
