Making a tatsuke in snowy Itoshiro
This year we are holding a total of three workshops in February and March.
The first session in February ended successfully. As always, we were blessed with wonderful participants, and I had a great time.
I am very happy to be able to share here the recipes that I learned from my grandmother here.
Originally, the tradition was passed down orally, but now we have transcribed it into text, but it is difficult to teach with just words and illustrations, so by being able to teach directly like this, we are able to convey not only little tricks, but also various ways of thinking and the mindset that goes into making the products.
For lunch, we shared some pickled meat, a dish unique to Itoshiro.
These are my own homemade dishes and are far from restaurant-style, but I would like you to enjoy something that can only be found here and now.
As we do this, we gradually get closer to completion, and we are surprised at how it turns out. That is the joy of being able to share that excitement. It's the best part of making something together.
At the "Antique Museum" in Itoshiro, we were shown tools that were used in daily life in the past,
The program allows you to see old clothes, fabrics, and hemp threads, and experience the history of this land firsthand.
I want to continue not just making tatsuke, but learning about and savoring this land.
I hold workshops in the winter, but thankfully, all the sessions up until March are fully booked. The next one will be in September or October...
We will let you know as soon as the event schedule is decided!
