Exclusive to Tatsuke Certified Instructors
Building a community of collaborators to create and sell tatsuke.

We are hosting a training course exclusively for certified Tatsuke instructors, which will develop "Tatsuke Tailors"—skilled professionals who create and sell Tatsuke works.

It used to be commonplace for people to make their own clothes, or for households to produce all the clothing they needed right at home. That practice faded away, however, and we entered an era where we could choose from cheap, mass-produced clothing in abundant supply. This shift has turned clothing into a disposable commodity: items are quickly used up and thrown away. To encourage people to cherish their clothes and wear them for years to come, we need to do more to advance apparel production that is fully transparent—where you can learn the full story behind every garment and the people who created it.

Alongside that, domestic clothing production will only grow increasingly challenging moving forward. A series of regulatory changes have left many factories across Japan in a precarious position. We are committed to continuing to pass down Japan’s exceptional domestic sewing craftsmanship. To raise the nation’s clothing self-sufficiency rate, it is an urgent priority to train creators who can produce durable, well-constructed garments. That said, mass-producing clothing with no clear intended wearer only leads to creator burnout. With the goal of growing the number of people who can sustainably make the right volume of clothing, for the right audience, at a fair price, we have decided to host a workshop covering the topics outlined below.

• Among those who have become certified instructors for the Tatsuke Workshop, anyone who wishes to create clothing such as tatsuke garments and sell them on an ongoing basis
• Individuals selected by Ittoro Dry Goods Store as qualified tatsuke tailors, based on their sewing skills and professional experience

• Fabric selection, manufacturing techniques, product inspections, mandatory quality labeling requirements, and all other content related to product production (Technical)
・Content related to support services such as repairs, maintenance, and other forms of assistance (Technical)
・About cost accounting. (Classroom lecture)
・Create a business plan. Management perspective (classroom lecture)
・Knowledge and methods related to sales and PR (classroom lectures)
・Regarding PR support and PR costs

Within six months of completing the course, you will be required to submit one of each clothing item you plan to sell for review. After passing inspection, you will receive official certification as a "Tatsuke Tailor". (Garments that have already earned "Instructor Certification" are eligible for the Tailor certification. If you have not yet obtained certification, you must complete your base certification before moving on to apply for Tailor status. A 5,000 yen certification fee is charged per design for all items that are not Tatsuke.)
Along with your homework assignment, you will also be required to submit your business plan (a template is provided)

Course fee: 88,000円 (includes lunch on day 2 and day 3)

Akihide Hirano
Executive at 石徹白洋品店. Former management consultant. For this course, I will be responsible for developing the core, critical business plan.

Keisei Hirano
Owner of Ishitori Shiro Apparel. Currently working to spread straight-cut clothing styles like Tatsuke to a global audience. In this program, he will share the core underlying concepts, public relations strategies, and related brand details.

Hiromi Goto
I work as a designer, production manager, and workshop instructor at 石徹白洋品店. For this course, I will be responsible for leading technical instruction.
