Fun for both children and parents
Summer vacation spent in Itoshiro
Long-awaited summer vacation!
What would you like to challenge yourself with this summer? Why not try a slightly special summer by doing indigo dyeing together as parent and child in a place different from usual?
At about 700 m above sea level, Itoshiro is a small village in Gifu, but each of the four seasons has its own beauty. Summer in Itoshiro is known for its clear, water-rich river and delicious corn! Why not make it a slightly special summer by doing indigo dyeing together as parent and child in Itoshiro?
In this program, children and adults alike will feel summer in the great nature of Itoshiro, learn about indigo dyeing, and challenge themselves to make something they can use in everyday life with their own hands!

Choose what you want to make from the dyed cloth, such as a drawstring bag, handkerchief, lunch wrap, or pencil case, and we’ll turn it into a finished item. (We will ask you later via questionnaire about the type of work you created.)
What should I make with the dyed cloth...! I’m excited!
From left: drawstring bag, tenugui towel, pencil case.

You can enjoy the time spent sewing, too.
For a tenugui, add a pattern and make it your own unique design.
You can also use it as a lunch wrap.
It can also be used as a placemat.
Make it into a tapestry and turn it into a summer vacation craft, too.

Let’s challenge ourselves to learn about indigo dyeing while feeling summer in the great nature of Itoshiro, and make something for everyday use with our own hands, together as children and adults!
Also, August is the season for sweet corn. Let’s all harvest and enjoy it together.

Let’s have a fun summer moment in the great outdoors.
