This design incorporates the distinctive “mojiri sleeves” of this region’s traditional upper garments. Its relaxed shape flatters every body type. Mojiri sleeves have a wide armhole for excellent ventilation.

About the loose weave >

Lightweight, soft linen fabric

An ultra-thin 100% linen fabric woven domestically.

Exceptionally soft, it gently wraps around the body. Though lightweight, it has structure and is a high-quality, elegant material.

For layering from spring through autumn

Can be worn as a light layer in cooler weather, or for air-conditioning protection in midsummer. Since it is lightweight, you can easily take it off, put it away in your bag, and carry it around conveniently.

Available in two colors: natural and indigo-dyed

It comes in two colors: undyed linen in its natural state, and indigo-dyed blue. The natural color is a grayish beige that goes well with just about anything, so you can enjoy a wide range of outfits.

The indigo color is a lighter navy. It has a refreshing, summery tone.

Soft and airy look

With plenty of gathers, this piece gives a soft impression.

The sleeves are 7/8 length and have slits, making them easy to move in and giving it a breezy feel.

■Story of its creation

This piece was created based on a garment borrowed from Mrs. Risako, who is now in her 90s. Its defining feature is the sleeve, called “mojiri sleeve,” made by folding and stitching together a rectangle.

I still remember the shock I felt the first time I saw this sleeve in person. I realized that a single piece could create a triangular sleeve shape, and that this sleeve had the same structure as the sleeves of Ainu clothing.

Itoshiro is a settlement that has existed since the Jomon period, so there may be some connection. This design was born while thinking about the romance of its long history.
