[Karusan] Linen/natural color

Our First Pair of Half Pants

In response to requests, we made our first pair of half pants.
The design is based on "Karusan." They turned out to be a very easy-to-move-in, lightweight piece.

Easy to move in, with no tightness

We adapted Karusan, which has a relaxed fit around the waist and down to just above the knees, into half pants. They can be worn in summer, both for going out and for relaxing at home.

About Karusan > 

Cool, lightweight linen fabric

A thin linen fabric for summer. It uses linen cloth woven in Shiga Prefecture. It can be washed repeatedly at home, and the more you wear it, the softer and more comfortable it becomes.

For casual or polished looks

The surface has a smooth plain weave, so it also suits an elegant look, and the natural linen texture works well for casual styling too. This versatile material can be worn in a wide range of settings.

There is a pocket and an eco water buffalo button on the left side.

One size for both men and women

Recommended for women as well as men. To the mountains, the river, the sea. A piece that can be your companion anywhere.

■ Production Story

Toshiharu, who was born and raised in Itoshiro and is now in his 80s, carefully keeps old clothes. He says he used to watch his grandmother weave cloth from an early age.

We recreated the shape of the pants found in his collection. They are a new style, different from the "tattsuke" and "hakama" we have made before. It seems they were trialed and made to suit his own body type—neither too slim nor too wide—and this shape does not appear to have been common in Itoshiro.

We could see traces of someone making practical use of the fabric at hand to create something easy to wear. We named these pants "Karusan," a term that also refers to wide pants in Itoshiro.
