These pants are loose from the waist to above the knees, but slim from the hem to the hem, making them easy to move in and out of. They can be used in a wide range of situations, such as relaxing wear, work wear, or going out wear.

It is wider than the "tatsuke" and slimmer than the "hakama". It is a tapered pant that is halfway between the two, so it is popular with people of all ages and body types. If you are unsure which to choose between the "tatsuke", "hakama" or "karusan", we recommend that you try these on first.

Sturdy linen material

This is a medium-weight, sturdy linen fabric that can be used for three seasons: spring, summer, and fall. It is made of Linen fabric woven in Shiga Prefecture. It can be washed repeatedly at home, and the more you use it, the softer it becomes.

For both casual and elegant looks

The smooth plain weave surface matches an elegant atmosphere, while the off-white texture of the linen fabric makes it suitable for casual wear. This material can be used in a wide range of situations.

■ Production Story

Toshiharu, an 80-year-old man born and raised in Itoshiro, carefully preserves his old clothes. He says he watched his grandmother weaving from his childhood.

I recreated the shape of the pants that were in that collection. It's a new shape that's different from the "tatsuke" and "hakama" that we've made. It seems that it was made through trial and error to find something that was neither too slim nor too wide, and suited his own body type, and this shape does not seem to be something that was commonly found in Itoshiro.

There were traces of the designers making the pants out of the fabric they had on hand. We named them "Karusan," a word that refers to wide pants and is also used in Itoshiro.
