Each piece is dyed in indigo.
At Itoshiro Clothing Store, we practice traditional Japanese indigo dyeing using only natural materials (sukumo, lye, shell ash, wheat bran). The dyeing season runs from May to the end of September. We dye in a natural rhythm, without forcing anything. We let the dyed items rest for over six months to allow the colors to settle. The clothes we will be releasing this year are those that were dyed last year in 2020.
Growing indigo clothing
The color of indigo-dyed clothing changes depending on how it is handled. In other words, one of its characteristics is that it looks different depending on the person using it. We hope you will use it for a long time, as if you were cultivating a piece that is unique to you.
