"Hakama" are wide pants that are traditional to this area. These pants are cut in a straight line with a square gusset at the crotch. We designed them in a jodhpur style based on this shape. They feature a sleek waist design and buffalo buttons at the hem, making them a very popular style for both men and women. They are tapered at the feet, making them easy to move around in and allow for good leg movement.

This brown is the natural color of sheep's wool. This fabric was developed using the wool of the "Black Merino," a rare breed of sheep that is rare in the world. Because it is a natural color, it has a gentle atmosphere that goes well with anything.

■ Production Story

Warm bottoms are essential in the cold Itoshiro area. That's why we developed these black merino hakama. We're particular about using natural colors, not chemicals, and we've been testing vegetable dyes and other methods to see if we can achieve that with wool. But we discovered that there are already colored sheep out there!

No dyeing is required, so I immediately went to various weavers to find the most eco-friendly way to make the fabric. The knitter is one of the leading knitters in Japan, handling high quality wool . A long-established weaver in Osaka , they have highly skilled techniques and produce high-quality materials that are on par with cashmere.

This colored sheep fabric was made possible because we have a small number of sheep and we are a small brand, so we can only produce small lots.
