Made with a straight-cut construction derived from kimonos, it uses fabric efficiently without constricting the body, making it versatile for daily wear or casual outings.

Straight Cut and the Wisdom of Kimonos

The Echizen shirt is made using straight-cut tailoring techniques, where fabric is cut in straight lines.
This construction minimizes fabric waste and creates a naturally fitting silhouette that flatters all body types.

Additionally, because there are no defined shoulder lines, it can be worn comfortably by people with sloped or broad shoulders.

Design Details
— Shirt Perfection

With a front-button design, it can be easily worn as an outer layer, perfect for protecting against air conditioning or as a light jacket. The stand collar offers a neat neckline without constriction.

Triangular gussets at the sides provide a relaxed fit around the shoulders, enhancing ease of movement.
Thus, the design balances the wisdom of traditional Japanese clothing with the practicality of modern wear.

Material: Domestic Linen

The material used is 100% linen, comfortable for spring and summer.

Shiga Prefecture has been a linen production area since ancient times. We source our fabric from a weaving factory there that adapts its techniques to modern times. The fabric is carefully crafted with high skill. It is a very high-quality linen that is firm but becomes softer with use.
Its smooth, refreshing feel and excellent breathability ensure comfort even in sweaty seasons.

Summer Staple: Indigo Dyed Clothing

Indigo is a traditional Japanese color. We cultivate indigo leaves in our fields to create sukumo, which is then prepared in indigo vats for dyeing during the summer.

Indigo dyeing is labor-intensive, but it produces a deep and captivating color that becomes more familiar with each use. This particular shade is achieved by repeatedly dyeing it with a rich indigo.

Silhouette and Comfort

The Echizen shirt has a clean, short length and a well-balanced silhouette that pairs easily with various bottoms.
The generous width allows for a relaxed fit, regardless of body type. It's a garment that feels light yet maintains a polished look.

Size and Specifications

This time, the shirt is available in two sizes: size 2 and 3.Size 3 offers a lovely, flowy oversized fit. *The color in the photo is different.

Care Instructions

• Turn inside out, place in a net, and wash with a neutral detergent on a delicate cycle
• Hang dry in the shade, keeping it inside out
• Botanical dyes are sensitive to light, so store in a dark place
• Iron from the reverse side at medium to low temperature
• If you wish to completely remove linen wrinkles, iron it when it is semi-dry for a neat finish
• We also offer repair and re-dyeing services. However, cherry blossom dyeing is only possible in years with heavy snow, so the re-dyeing period is flexible. Over-dyeing with indigo is possible [only in summer: May-August].
