The Echizen shirt is an adaptation of the traditional front-button shirt from Itoshiro, updated to be more suitable for modern life.

Crafted with a straight cut derived from kimonos, it minimizes fabric waste while providing a non-restrictive fit, perfect for everyday wear and casual outings alike.

Straight Cut and Kimono Wisdom

The Echizen shirt is made using a straight-cut tailoring technique, where fabric is cut in straight lines.
This method prevents fabric waste and creates a silhouette that naturally drapes, regardless of body shape.

Additionally, because there are no fixed shoulder lines, it can be worn comfortably whether you have sloping or broad shoulders.

— Shirt Perfection

With a front-button design, it can be easily worn as an outer layer, perfect for air-conditioned environments or as a light jacket. The stand collar offers a neat neckline without being constricting.

Triangular gussets under the arms provide a relaxed fit around the shoulders, enhancing ease of movement.

This design seamlessly blends the wisdom of traditional Japanese clothing with modern wearability.

Material: Domestic Linen

The material used is 100% linen, comfortable for spring and summer.

Shiga Prefecture has historically been a hemp producing region. We source our fabric from weavers there who have adapted their weaving techniques to modern times. The fabric is crafted with meticulous skill, offering a crisp texture that softens beautifully with repeated use, making it a truly high-quality linen.
Its smooth, refreshing feel and excellent breathability ensure comfort during warmer seasons.

Indigo-Dyed Clothing: A Summer Essential

Indigo, a traditional Japanese color. We cultivate indigo leaves in our fields, create sukumo (composted indigo leaves), prepare our indigo vats, and dye during the summer months.

Indigo dyeing is labor-intensive, but it produces a profoundly captivating color that becomes more familiar with each use. This particular shade is achieved by repeatedly dyeing in deep indigo.

Silhouette and Comfort

The Echizen shirt features a neat, short length and a well-balanced silhouette that pairs easily with various bottoms.
With ample width, it offers a relaxed fit for all body types. It feels light and airy while maintaining a refined appearance.

Size and Specifications

This time, it's available in two sizes: size 1-3.Size 3 offers a lovely oversized fit.

Care Instructions

• Turn inside out, place in a laundry net, and wash with neutral detergent on a delicate cycle (low water flow).
• Hang dry inside out in the shade.
• Because natural dyes are sensitive to light, store in a dark place.
• Iron from the inside out at a medium to low temperature.
• To completely remove linen wrinkles, iron when semi-dry for a neat finish.
• We offer repair and re-dyeing services. However, cherry blossom dyeing is only possible in years with heavy snow, so the re-dyeing period is subject to change. Indigo re-dyeing from above is only possible in summer (May-August).
