Poshagi: A Wisdom of Daily Life
Coaster / Placemat

Loving Poshagi
The instructor is Maki Matsumoto, who lives in Hyogo.

She is drawn to handmade crafts that embody the wisdom and skills of previous generations, and practices using fabric carefully in daily life.
Fascinated by poshagi's wisdom of using every scrap of fabric without waste and the beauty of turning even offcuts into a single piece of fabric, she has studied under Kim Jeong-mi of the Korean Traditional Culture Research Group since 2020.
She is learning not only hand-sewing techniques, but also the background from which poshagi was developed and the wisdom embedded in this craft. At this workshop, she will share the spirit of 'using fabric carefully without waste', which also connects to the lifestyle clothing in Itoshiro.
What We Value in This Workshop
- Do not waste fabric: The colors of indigo and plants, gifts of nature. Even the smallest scraps gain new life when combined together.
- Create with your own hands: One stitch at a time, at your own pace. Let's spend time feeling the warmth and attachment unique to handmade crafts, something you can't get from mass-produced items.
- Connect Tradition: Learn about the bag shape filled with the wisdom of previous generations, and update it into a 'tool just for you' that fits modern life.
