Our First Half-Length Pants

Responding to your requests, we've created our first pair of half-length pants.
The design is based on our "karusan" pants, resulting in a light and easy-to-move-in garment.

Easy to Move In, Non-Constricting

We've adapted the "karusan" design, which is loose around the waist and extends to just above the knee, into these half-length pants. They are perfect for both going out and relaxing at home during the summer.

About Karusan Pants > 

Cool and Light Linen Material

Made from a thin linen material perfect for summer. We use linen fabric woven in Shiga Prefecture. It can be repeatedly washed at home, and becomes softer and more comfortable with each wear.

From Casual to Elegant

The smooth plain weave surface lends itself to an elegant look, while the natural linen texture can also be styled casually. This versatile material can be worn in a wide range of settings.

■Production Story

Toshiharu-san, an 80-year-old who was born and raised in Itoshiro, carefully preserves old clothes. He apparently watched his grandmother weave fabric since childhood.

We recreated the shape of a pair of trousers found in his collection. It's a new shape, different from the "tatsuke" and "hakama" we've made before. It seems he experimented to create something that fit his body type, neither too slim nor too wide, and this specific shape does not appear to have been common in Itoshiro.

We saw evidence that he ingeniously made something practical with the fabric he had on hand. We named these trousers "Karusan," a term also used in Itoshiro to refer to wide-leg pants.
