Dyeing with Cherry Branches Broken by Snow
For dyeing, we use botanical dyes made from wild plants collected in Itoshiro.
Our Sakura Pink is dyed using cherry branches gathered from the mountains that broke during winter due to heavy snowfall. This is a special botanical dye that we only create in years with heavy snow.
It's a wonderful experience for us dyers to see a soft pink, evocative of cherry blossoms, emerge from brown branches.
Each piece is carefully dyed by hand at a botanical dye workshop in Itoshiro. We hope you can incorporate the beauty of seasonal plants into your life.
