Natural Color Black Merino Wool
We use ultra-fine yarn made from premium black merino wool. You might think fine yarn would be cold, but it actually traps plenty of air, keeping you warm while being surprisingly lightweight.

For years, we’ve worked to develop and promote black merino wool, and we’re thrilled that more people are now discovering just how wonderful this material is.
3 Natural Color Options
We offer this scarf in white, gray, and brown. Pick your favorite shade.

Why We Skip Dyeing
These are rare black sheep raised on farms in Tasmania, Australia.
We craft our scarves from the wool of these rare, low-population sheep. Choosing to skip chemical dyeing is better for the planet and for the workers handling the fabric—it’s a material we’re eager to share with as many people as possible.
Our Development Story
Here in Ishidori, where winters are cold, warm clothing is an absolute necessity. That’s why we set out to develop this black merino wool. We’d long focused on natural, non-chemical colors, and we tested methods like plant-based dyeing to achieve that look with wool—until we learned that some sheep naturally produce colored wool!
We knew skipping the dyeing process would be the most eco-friendly option, and we quickly connected with one of Japan’s top suppliers of high-quality wool. This long-established Osaka-based workshop has the expertise to create cashmere-level premium materials.
This naturally colored wool fabric was only possible because of the small sheep population, and because we’re a small brand with small production runs.
