About the Echizen Dress (Maxi Length)

The Echizen Dress (Maxi Length) is an elegant dress crafted from a flowing, satin-like organic cotton fabric, rooted in the traditional "Echizen Shirt" from Itoshiro.

While utilizing the simple structure of the Echizen Shirt, which was originally workwear, we prioritize its beautiful drape and comfortable material.

About the Material and Fabric — Soft Texture

This fabric is 100% organic cotton satin.
While retaining the soft texture unique to organic cotton, increasing the fabric density creates an elegant sheen and a flowing drape. Customers who try it on often exclaim, "It feels wonderful," due to its softness.

 
This material offers a comfortable feel, perfect for a dress from spring to autumn.

Generous Width and Comfortable Silhouette

The maxi-length Echizen dress offers a relaxed fit with ample width, so you won't feel restricted.
The design, with no fixed shoulder position and small triangular gussets under the arms, allows for free arm movement.

The hem falls straight down without flaring too much, creating a sophisticated silhouette.

As a Dress or a Cardigan

This Echizen dress is easy to coordinate as a standalone main piece, and you can also enjoy styling it by adjusting the position with the included waist belt.

A cinched waist style can also work for more formal occasions.
Additionally, it can be worn as a light cardigan during the cooler periods of early spring and autumn.

Gentle Hues of Botanical Dyes

The standard color lineup includes four options: indigo, marigold khaki, loquat pink, and marigold yellow. Bi-colors or other variations may be added in some years.

Cherry Blossom Branch Dye from Snow-Broken Branches

For dyeing, we use botanical dyes made from wild plants gathered in Itoshiro.
The sakura pink is dyed using cherry branches collected from the mountains that broke off during heavy snowfall in winter. This special botanical dye is only made in years with heavy snow.

It's fascinating how a soft pink, reminiscent of blossoms, emerges from the brown branches, making the dyeing process a wonderful experience for us.

Each piece is carefully dyed one by one at the botanical dye workshop in Itoshiro.

Comfort and Size

With its long length and relaxed fit, it can be comfortably worn by various body types.
The silhouette, which doesn't flare too much towards the hem, enhances the beautiful drape unique to maxi-length dresses.

Care and Maintenance

• To ensure long-lasting enjoyment, we recommend the following care instructions:
  • Turn inside out, place in a large laundry net, and wash on a gentle cycle.
  • Use a neutral detergent (water wash is fine for light soiling).
  • After washing, air dry in the shade, keeping it inside out.
  • Botanical/indigo dyes are sensitive to light, so store in a dark place.
  • If storing for multiple seasons, please use moth repellents.
  • We also offer repairs for fading and fraying, so you can use it with peace of mind for a long time.
