A patchwork of layered cloth, the "boro" that has been passed down for centuries in Aomori.
Tadazaburo Tanaka, who dedicated his life to collecting this BORO (cloth scrap) craft that is now gaining attention overseas.
He was a folklorist from Aomori who began collecting out of fear that the spirit of cherishing valuable cloth and the stories of people conveyed by "boro" would be lost. His collection and ideas have influenced many people's creative pursuits and ways of life to this day.
This time, we will hold a "Meeting to Discuss Tadazaburo Tanaka" with Hajime Kato, Tadazaburo Tanaka's nephew. He will share detailed stories about Tanaka's character and the ideas he held.
At the same time, we have invited Mr. Ito from Amuse Inc., who was involved in launching the Amuse Museum where Tanaka's collection was exhibited, Mr. Setoyama, and Mr. Tatsumi, who served as the director of the Amuse Museum (joining online), to share stories from those who worked closely with Tanaka.
It has been 13 years since Tadazaburo Tanaka passed away. To commemorate the reissue (5th edition print) of his almost out-of-print book "Things Have Hearts," this is a valuable opportunity for those connected to Hida-Takayama to gather and talk about Tanaka. Please join us.
