This "oral history collection" is a compilation of stories heard from men and women in their 70s and 80s in the Itoshiro region, transcribed and edited as they were told. It originated from activities at the Itoshiro Community Center and is now produced by the voluntary organization "Itoshiro Kikigaki-no-kai" (Itoshiro Oral History Group).
This time, a professor from Meijo University conducted oral history interviews about "kanjiki" (traditional snowshoes), resulting in six stories. Additionally, there is one piece from an oral history event held at Itoshiro College, and three pieces independently created by members of the Oral History Group, making a total of 10 works included. This collection is recommended for those who want to learn about the past or about Itoshiro.

■ Production Story
This book is a compilation of "oral histories" from the region, put together by the Itoshiro Oral History Group.
Oral history is a method of interviewing elderly people in the community, transcribing and editing their stories, and presenting them in a way that makes it sound as if the person themselves is speaking.
It vividly portrays how the elders of Itoshiro lived here and what they felt, offering many insights for us as we continue to live here.
This is a compelling collection of oral histories, with many stories that will bring a smile to your face or even tears to your eyes.
