How to Make Echizen Shirts [Itoshiro Folk Clothing Series]

We created a booklet explaining how to make the "Echizen Shirt" produced in our shop.

Like the previously offered "Tatsuke" and "Hakama" making guides, this shirt can be made solely by straight cutting, making it seem like a "miracle." However, it has been slightly modernized, so the neckline and collar are made with some curves.

Among our traditional clothing series, this is the most difficult and requires perseverance. However, we hope many people will try making the "Echizen Shirt," which has been passed down in Itoshiro village, deep in the mountains of Gifu Prefecture.

■Production Story
Many people are surprised that we meticulously publish the making-of guides for the clothes primarily produced and sold by Itoshiro Yohinten. We decided to share the making-of guides because we want more people to know the wonder of the traditional clothing passed down in Itoshiro.

Originally, we were generously taught by the grandmothers in the region. We want to pass this on to many people and share the surprise and joy of creating something, as well as the pleasure of wearing clothes you've made yourself.
