[Handkerchief] Organic cotton/indigo dyed dark blue/3 patterns

¥6,600
柄:
Quantity:

These handkerchiefs are hand-dyed one by one in indigo vats next to the store.

The diamond and flower patterns are hand-squeezed one by one, making each piece unique.

The gradation in color changes depending on the condition of the indigo vat on a given day and the weather, making it both difficult and fascinating to dye.

The fabric is organic cotton satin, which is delicate, very soft and comfortable. It can be used as a handkerchief, a small furoshiki, or a small scarf to decorate your neck.

Also recommended as a gift. Choose your favorite pattern.

■ Production Story

In Itoshiro, indigo leaves are grown, indigo is brewed, and dyed during the summer.

During the indigo dyeing season, I feel like I have more children. That's because I have to keep an eye on the indigo and take good care of it. Managing the indigo vats is hard work, but it makes up for it by producing such beautiful colors.

In the past, indigo dyeing was incorporated into daily life as a form of "beauty with utility," as people used to wear indigo clothing while working in the mountains to ward off vipers and as it also had insect repellent properties.

When we run out of colors to dye, we would like to continue natural indigo dyeing in this area, ultimately returning the fabric to the earth.
