Fabric: Awashijira 100% cotton, navy dots, width 37.5cm, length 6m
Awashijira, a polka dot yukata fabric from Tokushima Prefecture. Woven with indigo-dyed thread, the polka dot pattern is created by discharge printing. This fabric is very cool and breezy even in mid-summer. Since this fabric is made for yukata, it is narrower than usual and easier to make .
・Waist elastic: width 1cm, length 2m (soft elastic)
Waist string: width 1.2cm, length 2m (double weave)
・Hand sewing thread: Daruma household thread, 100% cotton, black, thick (#20), 100m
・Instructions for felled stitches
* It is possible to sew everything by hand, but the edges will need to be finished with a folded hem stitch, which requires skill and time. A serger or zigzag sewing machine is convenient for finishing the edges of the fabric.
*The product in the video is made of a different fabric. Please use it as a reference for the design and shape.
The Ishiteshiro Clothing Store has released how they make their own pants, and this time they tried making a kit. The reason for this is that, like us, local people generously taught us how to make clothes.
In the past, everyone made their own clothes and the whole family wore them. They created their own lifestyles as a matter of course.
Although we cannot practice all the ways of our ancestors, we would like to share with as many people as possible the joy of making things by hand and the pleasure of wearing something you have made yourself, so we hold regular workshops .
