Towards the reopening of the former stable gallery
The Itoshiro main store will open on May 4th.
We take a winter break from November to the end of April due to the risk of snow. During that time, we focus on exhibitions outside of Itoshiro, running our online shop, and creating products.
Spring is finally in the air and we are starting to prepare the store.
This year marks our 10th anniversary, and we have begun preparations for the opening of a gallery utilizing the former horse stable located next to our Itoshiro main store.
This place was used as the Itoshiro Clothing Store for about four years from ten years ago, before the main store was built. It is located at the entrance of my mother's house where I live.
As our children grew, one by one, we realized we were reaching the limits of what we could do here, so we built our own main store.
So I'm getting ready to open the shop, remembering the time 10 years ago when I first started the shop by myself, cleaning in silence, pasting washi paper on the walls, and setting up exhibits.
I am delighted that this location has been restored to a beautiful place that can be enjoyed by our guests.
This is where horses, which were essential for survival, lived.
This is a place where horses and people lived. There are many scratches on the pillars and I wouldn't even say it's clean, but in the scars, dirt and black beams smoked by the hearth, I see traces of the lives of people and horses, and it feels like I'm being encouraged to live well here.
Although this is still a short time compared to the 140-year history of the house itself, I will be exhibiting my progress over the past 10 years, as well as old clothes, photographs, and stories that I use as textbooks for clothing design, so please come along when it opens on May 4th.
We look forward to seeing you.
