We went to the village guide "Daishido" (9/3)
"Village Guide" is a new initiative we started this year.
We started this with the idea that "we want everyone who loves the clothes at Itoshiro Clothing Store to learn about the Itoshiro area as well."
In September, we visited the Daishido Hall, where the Bodhisattva Kokuzo, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property, is enshrined, and spoke with Shuichi Uemura, head of the Daishiko lecture group that protects the hall.
The Daishido Hall was built in the Meiji era. Due to the government's Shinto-Buddhist separation order, it became necessary to remove the Buddhist statues that had been enshrined at Hakusan Nakai Shrine and other small shrines in various places. Although some of the Buddhas had been damaged during the anti-Buddhist movement, the building was built with the cooperation of an organization (now the religious corporation Daishiko) to collect and donate the many Buddhist statues that the local people of Itoshiro had treasured.
It is still highly valued by local people today.
As with all Buddhist statues, I am always captivated by the divine beauty of Kokuzo Bosatsu. I am so grateful to be able to worship him.
Once again, I was able to learn about the history of the land and the deep faith of the people here.
It was probably a good opportunity for those who participated, but for me personally, the greatest learning experience is hosting this event and hearing more and more in-depth talks each time.
As part of the Itoshiro Clothing Store's events, this year's Daishido event has ended, but we hope to continue it again next year!
