This season's indigo dyeing experience is now closed.
As summer is drawing to an end, we will close the registration for the indigo dyeing experience in Itoshiro this season.
This year, we once again held workshops using indigo produced in Gujo, allowing many people to enjoy the indigo color of Gujo.
It was very impressive to seehow each person dyed their own unique patterns, and how their expressions of joy were when they untied the tie-dye and saw the finished pattern.
This year, in addition to the usual one-off courses, we also held a series of courses to learn more about indigo dyeing. Starting with plain dyeing, we taught various techniques such as board-clamping, tie-dyeing, and gradation, and we believe that we were able to convey the joy of indigo dyeing in a deeper way.
We are truly pleased that so many people in Itoshiro were able to experience indigo dyeing, one of the important dyeing techniques we use to make clothes.
I believe that by being involved in even a part of the process of making clothes, you will develop a deeper attachment to them and will be able to use them for a longer period of time with care. We would like to continue the indigo dyeing experience next year and beyond, so please come to Itoshiro again next summer.
