Workshop Information
"I first came across TATSUKE in January of this year. I had known about it for a few years, but when I took the workshop I was really surprised by the combination of cutting and sewing techniques, which were like a geometric puzzle.
This is especially true because I studied fashion at university for four years. It's a completely different concept from the pattern of [clothing], and above all, it produces very little waste. I think it's time for us humans, who have imposed mass production and mass waste on the earth, to shift to a more sustainable lifestyle.
As someone who has always tried to eliminate plastic as much as possible from my daily life, I felt that Tatsumi was an essential item.
I live in Tokyo, which is far from sustainable, but as a certified instructor, I want to convey the spirit of Itoshiro to those who have never worn or made tatsuke before, or those who have tried making them but don't really understand and would like to sew with me, so please come and actually pick up a tatsuke and help them make the perfect tatsuke for themselves. Please also try making tatsuke for your family and friends. I think you will be surprised at how comfortable they are to wear ^_^.

Workshop Information
"I first became interested in tatsuke because I wanted to make my own pants to wear while hiking or traveling. After reading the instructions and trying on the finished product, I was surprised at how slim they were, yet comfortable no matter what position I was in. I was so impressed by the efficient cutting and construction that I decided to visit Itoshiro to learn more.
Not only for hiking, which was my original purpose, but the equipment that allows me to spend every aspect of my daily life comfortably and naturally has now become indispensable to me.
When I wear tats, I feel more joy in knowing that they are not just something I sewed, but that they are made with wisdom that has been born from daily life over a long period of time, and that I am wearing them. At a time when many things are being lost and changed so rapidly, I think it is a very precious and joyful thing to be able to feel that I am still an extension of my ancestors.

"I first learned about Itoshiro in 2013 and was deeply moved by it. Since then, I have been fascinated by "Tatsuke". The more I learn about it, the more I am drawn to the simplicity and cuteness of Itoshiro's Tatsuke.
I feel that it is important to pass on ancient wisdom and techniques through our hands and bodies, and I hope to become one of the conveyors of Itoshiro's Tatsuke, learning gratitude and respect for our ancestors while working in the fields and hills, and weaving the future of our lives with a spirit of inquiry that will allow us to learn and make use of it.

Summer 2022 ... I found the "Tatsuke" WS by chance. The square and triangular shapes are comfortable to wear, and I was able to make pants in my size, which I was quite impressed with.
It was made to my size without a pattern!!
This is where the search for "Tatsuke" began.
The land of Itoshiro. When I come into contact with the wind, water, soil, sky, sun, and people who live there, I can't help but wonder what lies behind it all. "Tatsuke" is filled with the wisdom and ingenuity of the people who have lived there. And this "Tatsuke" has been passed down by Itoshiro Clothing Store. When I make it, the scenery of Itoshiro somehow comes to mind.
I just love "Tasuke". That's why I became a certified instructor (laughs).
I hope you will join us in making "Tatsuke" and visit Itoshiro at least once.

Workshop Information
I was looking for clothes that wouldn't produce scraps and found "Tatsuke" from Itoshiro Clothing Store. The refreshing feeling of using up all the fabric in my first tatsuke was a very, very satisfying experience for me, who always felt frustrated by the large amount of scraps I end up with when sewing. I love sewing, but there are many things I think about while I'm making something.
When I wanted to teach people how to make clothes, I felt that what I wanted to convey was "tatsuke". The time it takes to make the shape while sewing the triangles and squares in straight lines is fun no matter how many you make, and wearing a slightly unique shape is also fun. Although it was made as work clothes, the tatsuke conveyed from Kaori's perspective will continue to be fresh and you can learn a lot from making it.
I would be delighted if many people could learn about "Tatsuke," which was born in the deep mountain town of Itoshiro, as one of the wonderful cultural traditions born from the lives of the Itoshiro people.
