Fabric recommended for making Tatsuke pants
This fabric is for making your own Tatsuke pants. We've created a 38cm wide fabric, which is the necessary width for making Tatsuke. With a length of 4.5m, you can make a wide range of sizes, including our store's size 4 (height ~190cm, waist 85cm~, hips 110cm~).
The fabric has been cut to 38cm and the edges have been finished with an overlock machine, making it easy to cut. (The overlock thread is white core thread. Core thread is polyester on the inside and cotton on the outside, so it will dye when indigo dyeing or plant dyeing.)

This is the medium-weight plain weave linen fabric used in the Tatsuke workshops held at our main store. It can be used for three seasons, excluding mid-winter. It's a beginner-friendly fabric that's easy to hand-sew.
It's stiff at first, but softens with use.
Please use it in conjunction with "How to make Tatsuke".
■ About the fabric
Material: 100% Linen
Origin: Shiga Prefecture
Fabric width: 38cm *May vary slightly
Length: 4.5m
■ About the kit
In addition to the fabric, you can also purchase all the necessary materials for making the pants as a kit (+1,500 yen)

- Waist elastic: 1cm width, 2m
- Waist string: 1cm width, 2m
- Thread: Daruma household thread (2 types of hand-sewing thread)
- 1. White #20 thick, 100% cotton, 100m spool: Thick, so it's durable. As it's white thread, it's recommended for making stitches stand out.
- 2. Greige (matching the fabric color) #30 fine, 100% cotton, 100m spool: Fine, but single-strand use is recommended. As it matches the fabric color, stitches are less noticeable.

■ About washing
Before sewing, please hand wash or wash on a delicate cycle in a net.
Please note that the fabric may shrink depending on the washing machine and washing method.
■ Production Story
Itoshiro Yōhinten has made the pattern for our own pants public. This time, we planned to offer the necessary fabric for making them yourself. The reason is that, similarly, we were generously taught how to make "Tatsuke" by local people.
It is said that everyone used to make Tatsuke pants as a matter of course, and all family members wore them. They naturally created their own lives with their own hands.
While we cannot fully replicate the lives of our predecessors, we regularly hold workshops and other events, hoping to share the joy of creating with one's hands and the pleasure of wearing something one has made with as many people as possible.
