How to make Tatesuke ③ Where to use an overlocker (where edge finishing is required)
When making "tatsuke" (traditional Japanese trousers), you will need to finish the edges.

If you have a serger or zigzag sewing machine at home, please use it to sew the edges.

The orange parts in this document are the areas that require edge finishing.
If you plan to finish the edges with a flat-felled seam without using a sewing machine, you do not need to finish the edges beforehand. (Please refer to this article for flat-felled seams)
Also, the illustration on the left shows an example using "kichaku-nuno" (narrow fabric used for kimonos and yukata). This requires less edge finishing, so it is recommended to actively utilize it.
