My upbringing and the Echizen One-Piece
I started Ishiteshiro Clothing Store in May 2012, and since then I have run the store as my children have grown up.
My eldest son was born in the winter of the first year after we opened. At that time, I learned about the styles of clothing in this area from the grandmothers there, and the basic styles of "tatsuke" and "hakama" were established.
My second son was born in June 2015. At that time, I was planning and building my main store in order to start vegetable dyeing in earnest and to have my own store.
My third son was born in October 2017, and around this time I started indigo dyeing. I have finally built up a stock of plant-dyed fabrics, and am now able to release indigo- and plant-dyed clothing.
Since 2018, we have been able to fully develop our current style of clothing, which eliminates waste of fabric and uses natural colors.
My fourth son was born in May 2021, and I am finally able to raise my child wearing the clothes I have always wanted on a daily basis.
Because it is dyed with natural plants, it is safe for children to touch and lick it. In addition, it feels soft to the touch, is pleasant on children's skin, and has soothing properties for your own mind and body. In addition, there is the Echizen dress, a redesign of the "Echizen shirt" that has been passed down in this region and is made from no remnants and has no environmental impact.
When I think about our children's future, I feel that the clothes we make are very important. I unexpectedly became the mother of four boys, but I want to continue making clothes based on the traditions and nature of this region so that children can grow up and live vibrantly in this area.
