Making the dough for "tatsuke"

Every day, we work to make better "TATSUKE," starting with creating our own original fabrics.

There are many fabrics suitable for pants, but the fabric that our predecessors made is called "Tatsuke."
Since traditional kimonos have traditionally been made from kimono fabric (the width of cloth used to make kimonos), it is currently difficult to find such fabric in circulation.

Even if there were any, they would tend to be for thin fabrics such as yukata and kimono, or patterned fabrics, and would not be suitable for the indigo and plant dyeing that we want to create.



At that time, someone introduced me to a weaver in Chita, Aichi Prefecture, who specializes in weaving fabrics for kimonos.

In the past, there was much more demand for Japanese clothing, so there were apparently many more weavers like this, but now they have completely disappeared.

Meanwhile, they have been weaving cotton fabrics for tenugui, yukata, kimono and happi coats, and we have been indebted to them for many years. What kind of "tatsuke" can be made with the fabric made here?
