As in previous years, Itoshiro Yohinten will be recruiting interns from late April 2025.



This year, there will be a lot of work mainly related to indigo dyeing. If you are interested in indigo dyeing, or if you are considering working with indigo yourself in the future with your own indigo vat, please read the following requirements carefully and apply using this application form.
・Period: Minimum 3 weeks, from late April to late September 2025
・Job description: Indigo dyeing, maintenance and management of indigo vats, indigo field work, inspection of clothes and fabrics, work related to botanical dyeing, etc.
・Working hours: 9:00 - 17:00
・Accommodation: Stay in a shared house on the second floor of the Itoshiro Yohinten office (accommodation fees and utilities will be covered by us. The kitchen, toilet, and bath will be shared, and there will be one private room.)
・Salary: Unpaid
・Decision process: Decisions will be made after an in-person interview in Itoshiro or an online interview.
・Capacity: 1 to 2 people for a certain period (we may not be able to accommodate your preferred period)
・We are looking for people who:
Are in good physical and mental health and are proactive in communication. Are thorough in cleaning and serious about their work.

●Summer Schedule
April: Indigo vat preparation, sowing indigo and marigold seeds
May: Full-scale indigo dyeing begins, preparing indigo fields
June: Planting indigo seedlings, indigo dyeing
July: Indigo dyeing
Early August: First harvest and drying of indigo
Early September: Second harvest and drying of indigo
Late September: Indigo dyeing ends
Early to late October: Indigo vat cleaning, making sukumo, botanical dyeing

9:00 Cleaning of office and shared house
9:30 Morning meeting
10:00- Work begins (e.g., indigo dyeing, indigo field)
12:00 Lunch break
13:00- Inspection of indigo-dyed fabrics
16:00- Indigo field work
