We will be holding a release event for the Ishitoshiro Folk Clothing Series "How to Make a Sleeveless Dress"

Ishitoshiro Folk Clothing Series "How to Make a Sleeveless Dress" Release Event
10/1 Talk show "Self-sufficiency in clothing"

Okamoto Yoritaka (natural farmer) × Hirano Kaori (Itoshiro Clothing Store)

In the past, making your own clothes was commonplace.

Most of the Japanese clothing such as "tatsuke" and "hakama" that she learned to make from grandmothers in their 80s and 90s who live in "Itoshiro," a village deep in the mountains of Gujo, Gifu, are hand-woven, tailored, and dyed with indigo using hemp that they cultivated themselves.

The method for making the "sleeveless" kimono we are releasing this time is very simple, but the key is in the cutting, and it is a valuable method that allows us to learn from the wisdom of our Japanese ancestors.

Along with our previous "Tatsuke" and other products, we would like to teach many people how to make kimono with their own hands as clothing to wear on a daily basis.

Okamoto Yoritaka, who teaches natural farming all over Japan with the aim of achieving food self-sufficiency, has begun activities to grow indigo leaves and dye them, thereby bringing the country closer to partial self-sufficiency in clothing.

As a release event, through a talk with Yoritaka, we would like to think about the importance of self-sufficiency in clothing and creating one's own lifestyle with one's own hands.

And I'd also like to hear a little bit about the renovation of old houses that Yoritaka-san does every day as part of his "self-sufficiency in living"!

If you are interested in self-sufficiency in clothing and sleeveless kimonos, please come and join us.
