-- Special exhibition at Ishiteshiro Clothing Store: "A shirt called Echizen"
Itoshiro, a small village in Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture, is located on the border between Echizen and Mino.
Located at the source of the Kuzuryu River, in this area that was once part of Fukui Prefecture, there is a shirt called the "Echizen shirt."
I learned how to make this shirt from a grandmother in her 90s, andit is full of the ingenuity of using straight cuts to make clothes without wasting fabric.
Please come take a look at our reproductions of traditional clothing, with a focus on Echizen shirts.
