Member introduction vol.3 Yuka Matsuo
-How long have you been working at Ishiteshiro Clothing Store?
I moved to Itoshiro in August last year and have been working full-time as a permanent employee since September 1st.
-What does your job entail?
Before coming to Itoshiro, I worked in sales at an apparel shop, so at Itoshiro Clothing Store my main job is sales at the main store and at exhibitions.
However, we also work together on indigo dyeing and plant dyeing, and sometimes go to the mountains and fields to get dye materials. We also take and upload photos to post on social media...it's really a wide range of work.
It's fun to be able to do many different things without being tied to one job.
-What are the rewards and challenges of your job?
We try to explain to our customers the background of the manufacturing that is deeply rooted in this area, but sometimes it can be difficult to convey this information. However, the joy I feel when my message is properly conveyed is great.
What's also great is that even though we're so far in the mountains, we have the opportunity to meet a wide variety of people, including interns and customers who come to us with an interest.
-How does the clothes you're wearing right now (in the photo) feel?
I'm wearing a loose dress, but it's airy and the material is nice and comfortable to wear. Also, the color is pink dyed with loquats, and this beautiful color makes me feel good!
I love it because it can be worn with pants or on its own. It's great for everyday use and when going out. However, the color I'm wearing is sold out, and the only color in stores right now is a soft dandelion yellow.
-Please say a few words to our customers.
I would love for you to come to Itoshiro and experience the nature. It's fine if you just look at our products online, but I'd love for you to experience the nature of Itoshiro with all your senses. I would also be happy if you could try on "TATSUKE" and experience how comfortable it is!
-Thank you very much. Yuka has been in Itoshiro for a year now, and is an indispensable presence, working on a wide variety of tasks. I rely on her a lot. She also loves the nature and culture here, and we enjoy spending time together as friends who can learn a lot from each other. Let's continue to work hard together! (Owner, Hirano Kaori)
